Abstract:

This proposal seeks to fund and develop a foundational Tezos Domain Explorer to provide users with essential tools for analyzing and tracking Tezos domains. The explorer will feature sortable and filterable data tables, domain lifecycle tracking, and a global metrics section offering quantitative insights. These features are critical for fostering a dynamic and competitive market for domain trading, enabling users to engage effectively with the ecosystem and encouraging broader participation.

This explorer represents the first step in establishing the necessary infrastructure for Tezos Domains. While the initial platform will focus on core features, it can be refined and expanded over time based on continuous user feedback to meet evolving needs.

Rationale:

The Tezos Domains ecosystem is poised to become a dynamic and competitive marketplace for domain trading and registration. To realize this potential, we need a dedicated explorer platform that provides users with the tools to analyze trends, track auctions, and dive into domain histories. By establishing this essential infrastructure, we can foster a competitive, free-market environment where traders, collectors, and hobbyists actively participate and drive the ecosystem forward.

While APIs exist, they are impractical for most participants, requiring technical expertise that excludes the majority of potential users. This limits engagement and leaves significant opportunities untapped. Even Objkt, a central platform in the Tezos ecosystem, does not provide the necessary functionality for domain analytics and insights. To achieve a thriving marketplace, we need a purpose-built hub that empowers all participants, from newcomers to professional traders.

A domain explorer will enable a truly competitive marketplace by providing actionable insights and comprehensive market visibility. Sortable and filterable data tables will allow users to explore activity at a granular level, while a global metrics section will present high-level trends, including registrations, auctions, and trading dynamics. Domain lifecycle tracking and advanced search functionality will ensure that participants can uncover opportunities and make informed decisions with ease.

This explorer is not just about functionality—it’s about enabling the virtuous cycle of market activity that defines a competitive and sustainable ecosystem. By giving users the tools they need to engage deeply and return daily, we create a self-sustaining marketplace where participation fuels growth, innovation, and opportunity.

With this infrastructure in place, Tezos Domains can become a thriving hub of competitive free-market activity, attracting a diverse range of participants and driving long-term growth. This proposal is the first step in building that vision.

Details:

1. Sortable and Filterable Data Tables
At the core of the platform, these data tables enable users to dive deeply into domain activity. They are designed to offer flexibility and clarity, allowing users to:

Sort by Key Metrics:

• Registration date

• Sale Price

• Auction date

• Bid count

• Average bid increase

• Highest bid increase

Filter by Domain Attributes:

• Status (e.g., active auctions, recently sold, dormant).

• Characteristics like domain length (e.g., 1-character, 2-character, 3-character).

These tables serve as the foundation for analyzing domain-specific trends, providing users with the granularity needed to make informed decisions.

2. Domain Lifecycle Tracking

A comprehensive view of each domain’s history, ensuring transparency and insight into its activity. Users can access:

• Auction participation details, including bid counts and sale prices.

• Ownership changes and registration renewal histories.

• Expiration events and periods of dormancy.

3. Global Metrics Section

This section provides a high-level overview of ecosystem health and trends. It may exist on a separate page from the data tables for better organization and user experience. This section offers insights such as:

• Registration activity across different timeframes.

• Market dynamics, including transaction and auction volumes.

• Key statistics like average bids, total sales, and overall ecosystem engagement.

The global metrics page will serve as a snapshot of the ecosystem, complementing the deeper analysis available through the data tables.

4. User-Friendly Interface

The platform will leverage MUI templates for admin dashboards, ensuring a clean and intuitive user experience. These templates are built for efficiency, enabling rapid development of professional-grade interfaces. By building on and improving existing frameworks, such as those seen in tools like ENS.tools, the project avoids reinventing the wheel while ensuring scalability and flexibility for future updates. Features include:

• Responsive design optimized for both desktop and mobile users.

• Exportable data options for offline analysis.

The community’s ongoing feedback will be instrumental in refining these specifications and shaping future updates to ensure the platform evolves to meet user needs effectively.

Specification:

Action #1: Select an appropriate MUI template or pre-built admin dashboard as the foundation for the platform to streamline development and ensure scalability.

Action #2: Allocate in-house developers to begin implementation, ensuring adherence to the outlined milestones and leveraging selected frameworks for efficiency.

Action #3: Build the sortable/filterable data tables and domain lifecycle tracking as the primary focus of the platform.

Action #4: Design and integrate the global metrics section, ensuring flexibility to house it on a separate page or within the same interface as needed.

Action #5: Conduct internal testing of the platform to ensure functionality, usability, and accuracy across all core features.

Action #6: Launch the initial version of the Tezos Domain Explorer and conduct an outreach campaign to engage the community and gather feedback.

Action #7: Establish a feedback loop with the community to continuously refine and expand the platform based on user input and emerging needs.
